From 31 August - 3 September 2005 Brno hosted an international conference of young chemists 'The 2005 Younger European Chemist's Conference'.
115 participants - postgraduate students, young scientists from 25 countries took part in this fifth year of the conference, for the first time held in the Czech Republic.

The most notable results of student master's and doctoral dissertations were presented from a selection of participants signed up for the conference and lectures held during the experts sessions of representatives of European chemical institutions.
The conference programme included a tour of selected premises of PLIVA-Lachema. Young scientists had an opportunity to inspect the Cytostatic Injections Production Pavilion, production area of the Pilot Plant, the Quality Control Pavilion laboratories as well as the recently reconstructed R&D analytical laboratories.
